Super Mega Baseball 2 feels like Super Mega Baseball pushed to perfection. If what we had before was a simple arcade-like baseball game that, while simple, managed to retain most of baseball's complexity, in the sequel we have that basic premise worked further upon. Now the opposing players feel smarter both when at-bat and during fielding, along with plenty of new animations for celebrations and general movement, making the characters feel much more alive and dynamic. Oh and, of course, now that the models are more similar to real life, it helps in making the game feel more realistic while keeping its charming cartoon-ish appearance.
Looking at the small things, from what I've played in this demo, the game seems to have received plenty of small quality of life-ish improvements that help you feel more engaged. For example, while playing in Season Mode, I was shown mid-game stats such as "Player X's first home run of the season".

On the moment-to-moment gameplay front, the game also delivers a handful of improvements. What stood out to me right away was the fact that now pitchers only have a selection of pitch types instead of every pitcher being capable of throwing any pitch, making each pitcher feel more unique. This also works on your favor because when you're on the attack you also have information about what types of pitches your opponent is capable of throwing.
All in all, if you want a fun and straight to the point baseball game, I feel like this game is perfect for you. After playing the first game for hours and trying this one out myself, I can say with confidence that the full is a really good game. While simple, it still keeps a lot of the complexity that surrounds baseball, so that even people like me that know nothing about the sport can enjoy this game. Unfortunately, due to restrictions of the demo, I wasn't able to experiment further than a couple of exhibition and season matches. Though, even if I haven't played it myself, I'd like to point out that now Super Mega Baseball supports online play, so that you can challenge yourself against your friends.
